A Handful of Flowers

A handful of flowers created as a beautiful, informal tied bunch with seasonal flowers and foliages.  When possible, the flowers chosen will be British grown, normally throughout the Spring and summer seasons.

The bunches of flowers pictured are samples only, of what we will create. All our flowers that leave the shop are different, each with its own beauty, so flowers pictured will not be exactly what is delivered. Flowers are dependent on seasonal availability and florist choice.

Please contact us to let us know if you have specific requirements for your order.

Green wrapping

We tie our bouquets with natural seagrass twine or a hessian sash knot, dressed simply in all-white tissue and paper wrapping, which is recyclable and biodegradable.

For our aqua pack wrapping we use biodegradable film or eco-wraps.

We keep the presentation simple, as we believe the flowers speak far more eloquently than any amount of ribbons and bows.

Care instructions for your bouquet

Care instructions for your bouquet

Enjoy the beauty and fragrance of your hand-tied bouquet. We recommend following these simple steps to help keep your flowers looking fresh and beautiful for as long as possible.

  1. Prepare the Vase: Fill a clean vase or jug with fresh, lukewarm water. Clean vases help prevent bacterial growth, which can shorten the lifespan of your flowers.
  2. Unwrap with Care: Gently remove all decorative wrapping. The cellulose and eco sponge wraps we use, along with the bags, are biodegradable. The paper wrapping can be recycled. Please always try to reuse or recycle.
  3. Trim the Stems: Using a sharp knife or pair of scissors, cut each stem at an angle of least 3 cm. This fresh cut allows the stems to absorb water more efficiently and a diagonal cut increases the surface area for water absorption, helping your flowers stay hydrated and fresh.
  4. Arrange the Flowers: Place the freshly cut stems into the vase. You can choose to keep the bouquet tied with string (recommended for smaller bouquets) or release the tie to let the flowers spread naturally (recommended for larger bouquets). As the flowers mature and open more fully, they will require space to display all their beauty.
  5. Water Maintenance: Keep an eye on the water level, ensuring it remains consistent and generous. Fresh water is crucial for your flowers’ longevity, so top up the vase as needed and re-cut the stems each time you change the water, ideally every couple of days.
  6. Optimal Placement: To prolong their life, place your flowers in a cool location, away from direct heat, sunlight, or draughts. A cooler environment will help keep your flowers fresh and vibrant for a longer period. Avoid placing your arrangement near fruit, as ripening fruits release ethylene gas, which can cause flowers to age prematurely.
  7. Leaf and Petal Care: Remove any leaves or petals that fall below the water line, as they can introduce bacteria into the water. Also, regularly remove any wilted flowers to keep the arrangement looking fresh and to prevent the spread of decay to other flowers.
  8. Protect Surfaces: Do not place your flower arrangement directly onto an unprotected surface or furniture. Always use a protective mat or coaster to prevent any potential water damage.
  9. A little care goes a long way in keeping your flowers happy and healthy!
